Overview

Biography

Angela primarily concentrates her legal practice on representing individuals and businesses in commercial disputes and litigation, including contract disputes, securities claims, and fraudulent-misrepresentation actions. She has experience with all aspects of litigation, from pre-suit case evaluation to motion practice, settlement negotiation, trials, and appeals. Angela is particularly skilled at representing clients in post-judgment and intermediate appeals before federal and state courts.

Additionally, Angela has a strong commitment to and an extensive background with diversity and inclusion topics in the legal profession and others. She regularly advises and presents to organizations, including federal contractors, on topics such as EEO and affirmative action compliance, strategic human resources and diversity and inclusion initiatives, organizational culture, and workplace climate.

Experience

Representative Experience

  • Served as trial and appellate counsel to an international foreign corporation and stockholder in a federal lawsuit in the Eastern District of New York and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit regarding Alien Tort Statute and Torture Victim Protection Act claims.
  • Advised and counseled a special-purpose vehicle corporation in a Hong Kong arbitration proceeding regarding a dispute over a complex $33 million investment in an overseas private-education project that was governed by NYS law.
  • Defended a privately held green-energy product developer in a securities issuance-dispute in federal court.
  • Represented a multinational gas-cylinder valve company in a dispute under the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods with a parts supplier delivering parts to Luxemburg.
  • Represented a construction company in a contract dispute involving a subcontractor in a multi-million federal military project.
  • Served as appellate counsel to corporate officers defending against a lawsuit by the NYS Attorney General concerning potential violations of NY general business laws.
  • Represented a renewable-energy technology company in a dispute concerning the breach of a joint-venture agreement with a bio-science energy company based in Ireland.
  • Represented a privately held investment advisor in numerous lawsuits consolidated in the Southern District of New York arising out of a major Ponzi scheme.
  • Represented a commercial real estate investment company in a dispute involving the transfer of a Walgreen’s store.
  • Served as appellate counsel to a not-for-profit in an action concerning the use, ownership, and possession of various assets, including lakefront real property and restricted monetary gifts.
  • Represented a luxury home-furnishing company in a dispute concerning the termination of a dealership agreement with another company.
  • Counseled a custom retail content-publishing and strategy company regarding responding to a subpoena production while protecting its propriety trade information.
  • Defended a gas-analysis-instrument company in a contract dispute with its food and beverage vender.
  • Served as trial counsel to a private property owner in a lawsuit concerning the breach of a construction contract.
  • Represented a former business owner in an action seeking payments due to him under a buyout agreement.
  • Defended a NYS public officer in an ethics-violation proceeding.
  • Represented waterfront landowners in a title dispute.
  • Served as pro bono trial counsel to a single mother and her two sons who were unlawfully evicted from their home and suffered the loss of their personal property.
  • Served as pro bono trial counsel to a disabled man seeking title to his home, which had been fraudulently transferred out of his name.
  • Represented municipalities and individual land owners in an Indian land-claim action in the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit concerning relief under the All Writs Act.
  • Represented an energy company in Indian law, water, and other tribal-rights issues arising during FERC relicensing of a hydroelectric project.
