Liz primarily concentrates her practice on litigation, zoning, and real property tax and condemnation. She routinely represents clients before municipal boards in zoning and land-use matters, including use and area variances, special-use permits, rezoning, and site-plan and subdivision approval.

Liz’s civil and criminal defense practice includes the successful management of several newsworthy cases that involved media interviews and televised courtroom appearances.

Representative Experience

  • Successfully represented a Fortune 500 company looking to expand its nationwide car dealership into Upstate New York, handling all aspects from rezoning through site-plan approval at the municipal level.
  • Achieved various zoning approvals for a nationwide student-housing management and development company, resulting in a $50 million local investment in private student housing.
  • Represented and advised multi-million companies on nationwide expansion and operation in accordance with municipal zoning laws and regulations.
  • Successfully defended and prosecuted various Article 78 matters in supreme courts throughout New York State.
  • Represented and advised various sovereign nations within the Western District of New York on issues such as sovereignty and compliance with state and federal tax laws.
  • Successfully defended both felony and misdemeanor DWI prosecutions in state and local courts in Erie and surrounding counties.
  • Successfully represented a 9-year-old female in a gender-discrimination action against a private football league.
  • On behalf of more than 10 property owners, successfully opposed a Zoning Board of Appeals application from a local farmer seeking to install a 133-foot wind turbine.
  • Successfully obtained a use and area variance for a local business looking to expand to the Town of Amherst.
