Steven provides legal counsel and day-to-day guidance to businesses and individuals on a variety of civil matters. He has appeared at arbitrations, depositions, court conferences, and motion hearings. Steven also has extensive experience conducting legal research for insurance, construction, medical malpractice, real property, and premises-liability actions, and he is skilled at drafting complex and dispositive motions. In addition to his own practice, Steven is a member of the firm's Associate Integration Committee.

Prior to joining Barclay Damon, Steven defended Fortune 100 automobile manufacturers in commercial, consumer warranty, and products-liability litigation.

Representative Experience

  • Secured a favorable outcome for an insurance company sued by its own insured on the defense that flood damage to the insured’s residence occasioned by frozen boiler pipes fell within the applicable exclusion to policy coverage that required the insured to use reasonable care to maintain heat in the premises while vacant.
  • Obtained summary judgment dismissal on behalf of a commercial lessee in a third-party premises liability action on the ground that no duty of indemnification was owed to the lessor under the lease contract, which could not, as a matter of law, be construed to contain any ambiguity.
  • Prevailed on motion for summary judgment on behalf of homeowners sued by a hired contractor injured while installing new drywall inside the homeowners’ garage by a faulty garage door mounting bracket on the grounds that the homeowners neither created a dangerous condition nor exercised requisite supervisory control over the garage door’s installation sufficient to impute liability.
