Charles Nerko Featured in American Banker Article on Ransomware

Charles Nerko, partner and team leader for data security litigation in the firm’s Data Security & Technology Practice Area, was featured in the American Banker article “The LockBit Takedown Is a Victory, but It May Be Fleeting.”

The article addressed the LockBit ransomware group, which has extensively damaged banks, credit unions, financial institution service providers, and many other businesses. In the article, Charles discussed the efficacy of ransomware countermeasures when jurisdictional hurdles obstruct direct legal action against international cybercriminals.

“Barclay Damon’s innovative and strategic approach empowers our clients to recover from cybersecurity incidents,” Charles explained. “We’re recognized for our success in representing financial institutions and businesses as plaintiffs in data security litigation, helping clients obtain compensation from technology providers and other third parties at fault for causing cybersecurity losses. Our creative approach helps clients safeguard their interests and obtain compensation, even when direct legal action against hackers is elusive.”
