Buffalo Law Journal: Pro Bono Cases Help Area's Neediest

More than 20 attorneys and law firms will be honored at the 10th annual Champions for Justice Bash awards reception Nov. 17 in Buffalo.

Among them, Barclay Damon LLP partner, Robert P. Heary will be honored by the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Erie County Bar Association. Heary works in employment law and sits on the VLP board. He won in the category of Law Firm Pro Bono Coordinator. Heary also coordinates pro bono work for Barclay Damon.

"We try to provide different avenues for our attorneys to volunteer to people who are in need of civil legal services," he said.

The firm provides a number of services coordinated through VLP including sponsoring one of the free legal clinics that Say Yes to Education Buffalo runs throughout the city and covering the pro se help desk in Federal Court.
