Aleece Burgio Quoted in WBEN Article on NYS Adult-Use Recreational Marijuana Legalization

Aleece Burgio, Cannabis Team leader, was interviewed for WBEN’s article “NY Lawmaker Says Deal ‘Immensely Close’ on Pot Legalization” regarding the imminent vote on legalizing adult-use recreational marijuana in New York State. While marijuana legalization is at the top of NYS Governor Cuomo’s list, marijuana sales in nonmedical adult-use dispensaries won’t be able to happen until rules and regulations are established.

“Once this is passed, we’re probably not going to be able to have anyone purchase inside of a store for at least 10–14 months is my guess,” Aleece said. “We really still have to look for rules and regulations to come into place, which could take six months to craft those and get comments. Most likely, the first people to be able to sell marijuana will be through a medical dispensary that’s currently existing.”
