Barclay Damon's Pharmacy Team Launch Featured in Law360 Pulse Article

The news that Barclay Damon has launched a multidisciplinary Pharmacy Team was featured in the Law360 Pulse article “Barclay Damon Launches Multidisciplinary Pharmacy Team.” The article notes that the team, which brings together about 15 attorneys from practice areas including litigation, labor and employment, bankruptcy, and transactions, represents pharmacies, wholesalers, manufacturers, investors, and other pharmaceutical industry clients.

The group builds on more than a decade of work with pharmacy clients and a firmwide effort to cross-train attorneys on industry-specific issues. “Starting over a decade ago, we had a large number of pharmacy clients, both chains and independent pharmacies, and it became apparent to me that the complexity of representing those clients in state, federal and contractual contexts really warranted the cross-training of lawyers in other areas of the firm,” said Linda Clark, team co-leader.

The team handles regulatory compliance, licensing, government investigations, labor and employment matters, data security, and corporate transactions. Linda emphasized that pharmacy clients expect counsel to understand key industry programs and terminology: “If you start talking to a sophisticated pharmacy client or wholesaler — or any client in the supply chain — and they have to explain what a PBM is or the 340B program, the client is not going to be impressed.” Team co-leader Brad Gallagher added, “This is a team that is focused in the space and has the ability and knowledge to be valuable to those clients and potential clients. You don’t have to explain how the pharmacy industry operates; we know how it works, and that’s our advantage.”
