Jason Klimek Featured in POLITICO's New York Playbook Newsletter Article

Jason Klimek, Cannabis Team co-leader, was featured in “1,500 More Licenses Coming to N.Y.,” an article in POLITICO’s New York Playbook newsletter. The article notes that a general license application period opening on October 4 will result in 1,500 more cannabis business licenses being issued.

Per a provision of New York State’s adult-use cannabis rules, regulators are required to tell the public at least 30 days before an application period opens up. This 30-day notice period would be cut short between when the state’s adult-use cannabis rules go into effect and the October 4 license application period opening up.

“There’s always a chance that someone’s going to sue,” Jason said. “It could be someone who couldn’t get their ducks in a row quick enough.” However, the Office of Cannabis Management doesn’t have any doubt that opening application period on October 4 complies with the cannabis law.
