Michael McGovern Featured in Law360 Tax Authority Article About Joining Barclay Damon

Michael McGovern, partner, was featured in the Law360 Tax Authority article “Barclay Damon Continues Growth With Morrison Cohen Hire” about joining Barclay Damon’s New York City office. Describing what drew him to the firm, Michael said, “I was drawn to Barclay Damon because of its strong reputation as a business-minded firm with deep regional roots and a growing platform in major markets like Boston, New Haven, New York City, and Washington, D.C.”

Michael praised the firm’s collaborative environment and the strategic growth of its practice groups. “The firm’s collaborative culture and strategic approach to expanding its core practice areas really stood out to me,” he said. He also highlighted a strong alignment with the firm’s health care capabilities: “In addition to the firm’s employee benefits practice area, I was particularly excited by the strength of its health care practice group, which aligns well with my prior experience and offers meaningful synergies with my existing client base.”

Looking ahead, Michael emphasized the potential for integration and value-add within Barclay Damon’s broader platform. “What stood out to me about Barclay Damon’s employee benefits practice area is its integration with the firm’s corporate, tax, and labor & employment practice areas,” he said. “I saw an opportunity to add value by complementing and expanding the team’s work on transactional matters, executive compensation, and regulatory compliance.”
