Rick Hartunian, partner, was featured in the Law360 Pulse article “Former NY US Attorney Joins Barclay Damon From Manatt” about joining Barclay Damon’s Albany and New York City offices. The article provided background on Rick’s experience with the Department of Justice and in private practice as well as why he decided to join Barclay Damon.
About the biggest challenges white-collar clients are currently facing and the issues he sees being the biggest areas of interest in the near future, Rick said, “Immigration enforcement should be a big concern for companies that employ workers with temporary status in the United States, and they should immediately take steps to ensure compliance with the law. State regulatory agencies may show increasing levels of oversight in the health care and fintech industries as the federal government shifts its enforcement priorities.”
Rick’s time with the DOJ helps him in his practice today. He said, “Knowing how government agencies operate allows me to provide real-time, experience-based advice to my clients so they accurately assess their situation and make decisions that are in the best interests of their organization.” He also chaired the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee of US Attorneys, and “worked with DOJ leadership to tackle our most challenging legal issues, including illegal immigration and violent crime, the opioid crisis, terrorism, and restoring community trust.”
The article also included information from Barclay Damon’s press release about Rick joining the firm, and noted that Barclay Damon has hired three other attorneys in its New York City office so far in 2025.
