The Advocate: "2024 Game Changers: How Specialty Pharmacies Can Thrive Amid Shifts in Cybersecurity, PBM Reforms, and Regulations"

Brad Gallagher and Linda Clark, Health Care Controversies Team co-leaders, had their “2024 Game Changers: How Specialty Pharmacies Can Thrive Amid Shifts in Cybersecurity, PBM Reforms, and Regulations” article published in The Advocate, the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy’s member newsletter. The article highlights key events in 2024 that affected specialty pharmacies, including legislation to increase oversight and regulation of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and fallout from the Change Healthcare cyberattack.

The article also provided an outlook for 2025 regarding anticipated changes at the Federal Trade Commission and Medicare Part D–related issues. Brad and Linda wrote, “With continued scrutiny on PBMs, the growing risk of cybersecurity threats, and ongoing changes in federal and state regulations, it is essential that pharmacies take action to safeguard their operations and ensure compliance with new laws and contractual requirements.”
