Arthur Adelberg Joins Hiscock & Barclay as Partner

Washington, D.C. – September 15, 2014 – Arthur W. Adelberg has joined Hiscock & Barclay, LLP as a Partner in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. He was most recently associated with the D.C. office of Loeb & Loeb LLP.

Mr. Adelberg brings significant experience in state and federal energy law and policy, antitrust, government contracts, homeland security and Congressional representation. For the past many years, he has represented electric utilities, transmission companies and other energy market participants before federal and state regulatory agencies, courts, Congressional Committees, and Executive Branch departments on a wide range of matters. Mr. Adelberg will practice as an active and contributing member of the firm's Energy and Regulatory Practice Areas.

Mr. Adelberg has been involved in the energy industry since 1985, when he was recruited to be General Counsel of Central Maine Power Company. He rose to be Vice President of Law and Power Supply and ultimately Executive Vice President of Central Maine Power's holding company. He directed subsidiaries involved in cross-border transmission and renewable energy generation, and served as the Company's representative on the Executive Committee of the New England Power Pool. He also co-founded and chaired an industry coalition that successfully lobbied for reform to federal energy law.

In 2005, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security retained Mr. Adelberg as Senior Counsel for the Committee's Investigation of Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Adelberg co-authored the Committee's 2006 Report which led to the enactment of reforms to the laws governing the nation's response to major disasters.

Mr. Adelberg has conducted training for corporate managers on compliance with energy and antitrust laws, and has developed corporate compliance programs. He has also spoken at numerous industry conferences, authored articles for national publications on energy and antitrust topics, and testified before several Congressional committees on energy industry restructuring.

Mr. Adelberg is a graduate of Yale University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Connecticut and Maine, and is a member of the Energy Bar Association.
