David M. Cost Elected Partner at Barclay Damon

ALBANY, NY "” January 6, 2016 "” Barclay Damon, LLP announces the election of David M. Cost to partner.

Mr. Cost is resident in the firm's Albany office and is a member of the Commercial Litigation, Health Care Controversies and Mass & Toxic Torts practice areas.

As part of his diverse practice, Mr. Cost represents healthcare and social service entities in litigation matters, including matters concerning exclusion and reimbursement by governmental entities, as well as in contractual disputes. His primary area of practice is in complex healthcare litigation, with a secondary focus in mass tort litigation claims involving exposure to toxic chemicals, including representing corporate clients in asbestos litigation matters around the country, as well as lead paint matters. Mr. Cost also handles matters involving complex business disputes, claims brought under New York State Labor Law, workers compensation group self-insurance trusts, and other tort-based litigation with jury trial experience.

Pro bono work also plays a significant role in Mr. Cost's practice. In 2011, the Legal Project of Albany awarded him the prestigious Stanley J. Rosen Memorial Award for his pro bono service to victims of domestic violence. He also served as lead trial counsel for a prisoner plaintiff in a Federal civil rights matter for denial of Constitutional Due Process Rights and Equal Protection Violations. He has also been a speaker at both local and national continuing legal education programs for attorneys.

Mr. Cost received a B.A. with Honors in Philosophy from Hamilton College and his J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School.
