Barclay Damon announces Emilie Simone has joined the firm as counsel in its Restructuring, Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Practice Area in the New York City office.
Simone represents businesses, lenders, creditors, fiduciaries, and individuals in complex bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors' rights, and commercial litigation matters. Her practice includes business disputes, adversary proceedings, loan workouts, fraudulent transfer and preference actions, judgment enforcement, and asset recovery matters in state and federal courts.
Simone brings a distinctive combination of private practice, government, judicial, and financial experience to her work. Most recently, she served as counsel at Pullman & Comley LLC, where she handled complex insolvency-related disputes and commercial litigation. Previously, she served as an assistant United States attorney in the Financial Litigation Unit for the District of Connecticut, where she enforced federal judgments and restitution orders and led asset recovery and financial enforcement efforts. She also served as a judicial law clerk to Judge Sean H. Lane of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
“Emilie’s depth of experience across bankruptcy, restructuring, financial enforcement, and litigation matters makes her an outstanding addition to our team,” said Janice Grubin, co-chair of Barclay Damon’s Restructuring, Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Practice Area. “Her government and judicial experience provides valuable insight that will benefit clients navigating complex financial disputes and insolvency matters in and out of court.”
Simone’s prior service with the US Attorney’s Office and the United States Bankruptcy Court, in the District of Connecticut and the Southern District of New York, respectively, gives her firsthand knowledge of federal enforcement actions, asset investigations, and bankruptcy proceedings, enabling her to provide strategic counsel informed by both courtroom and government perspectives. Her earlier career as a forensic accountant, combined with an MBA in accounting, further strengthens her ability to analyze financial records, evaluate damages, and develop practical solutions in high-stakes business disputes.
“I am excited to join Barclay Damon and collaborate with such a talented group of attorneys,” Simone said. “The firm’s strong reputation and commitment to client service make it an excellent platform to continue helping clients resolve restructuring, insolvency, and complex litigation challenges.”
