Hiscock & Barclay Partner Brian Whiteley Appointed Hearing Officer for Board of Bar Overseers

Boston, Massachusetts – December 12, 2014Brian E. Whiteley, a Partner in Hiscock & Barclay's Boston office, has been appointed as a hearing officer for the Board of Bar Overseers of the Supreme Judicial Court, effective January 1, 2015.

The Board of Bar Overseers was established by the Supreme Judicial Court in 1974 as an independent administrative body to investigate and evaluate complaints against lawyers. Hearing officers serve three year terms and a term can be renewed once.

Whiteley is Co-Chair of the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice Area as well as a member of the Labor & Employment and Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Areas. In addition to representing corporate and individual clients, Whiteley strives to spend considerable time on a yearly basis assisting with pro bono matters. He received a President's Award from the Boston Bar Association in May 2014 for providing pro bono assistance to victims affected by the Boston Marathon bombing and was named to the 2013 Empire State Council for his pro bono efforts in New York.
