Katie Markert and Michael Schroeder Join Barclay Damon

September 24, 2019—Barclay Damon announces Katie Markert, counsel, and Michael Schroeder, associate, have joined the law firm. Markert is based in the Rochester office, and Schroeder is based in the Buffalo office.

Markert is a member of the Branding, Trademarks & Copyrights Practice Area, where she handles selecting, searching, clearing, and the registration of trademarks; developing brand portfolios; monetizing and licensing intellectual property; and enforcing intellectual property rights. She routinely prosecutes trademark applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and handles appeals of decisions on the registrability of trademarks as well as trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

Schroeder is a member of the Trusts & Estates Practice Area, where he handles trust and estate administration, planning, and litigation. He is certified with the NYS Office of Court Administration to accept appointments as guardian ad litem and has additional experience representing individuals in guardianship matters under Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law. Schroeder previously interned at the Erie County Surrogate’s Court to Judge Barbara Howe.
