Barclay Damon Expands IP Practice With Addition of Accomplished Patent Attorney Franklin Abrams

Barclay Damon is pleased to announce that Franklin Abrams has joined the firm as special counsel in the Patents & Prosecution, Intellectual Property Litigation, and Trademarks, Copyrights & Licensing Practice Areas, strengthening the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and underscoring the firm’s continued investment in sophisticated patent and technology-driven practices that support innovative companies at every stage of growth. Abrams will practice out of Barclay Damon’s Albany and New York City offices

Abrams is a patent attorney with more than 20 years of experience advising clients across the life sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and chemical sectors. His practice spans patent preparation and prosecution; patent portfolio development and management; strategic intellectual property counseling; and drafting opinions relating to patentability, validity, enforceability, non-infringement, freedom-to-operate, and Hatch-Waxman Paragraph IV certifications. Holding a PhD in molecular biology and biochemistry, he brings deep technical insight to matters involving pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, synthetic biology, biomaterials, antibodies, agricultural sciences, and industrial chemistry as well as significant experience with.

Before joining Barclay Damon, Abrams served in both private practice and in-house roles, including as intellectual property counsel for a medical device pharmaceutical company and as foreign IP counsel at a leading firm in Beijing.
