Biography

Jesse is an experienced commercial litigator and counselor with a significant domestic and international practice. His insurance and reinsurance clients are involved in many aspects of primary and excess insurance; reinsurance; general liability; professional liability; financial lines, including directors and officers; and transportation. Jesse has represented clients externally and as an in-house general counsel in transactional, high-profile coverage matters, litigation, declaratory judgment, and insurance defense matters. He also represents clients in many industries, including in claims and litigation, contract disputes and counseling matters, and other commercial matters. Jesse’s clients are located throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Bermuda, and Europe.

After gaining significant experience in a law firm setting, Jesse served for several years as general counsel and officer for an NYSE-traded global insurer and reinsurer headquartered in Bermuda. Based in the United States, he was responsible for proposed insurance and reinsurance transactions, corporate acquisitions, corporate governance, employment counseling and disputes, commercial litigation, leases, US and foreign licensing, compliance,  and regulatory matters. Jesse was also part of an internal team that successfully established a regional office in Miami as a hub for Latin American insurance and reinsurance business. Additionally, he served on national and international executive committees with global responsibilities.

Experience

Representative Experience

  • Represented clients in litigation and arbitration matters in New York, federal courts, and elsewhere––on a pro hac vice basis––in insurance, commercial litigation, and other matters.
  • Represented reinsurers, intermediaries, and cedants on US reinsurance arbitrations and litigation relating to active and discontinued reinsurance business.
  • Provides coverage advice and counseling to primary and excess insurers and reinsurers on significant complex matters relating to general liability, professional liability, technology insurance, media, products liability, environmental law, rail disasters, and cyber-related matters.
  • Counsels clients on facultative and treaty claims, captive, and other program business, including conducting reviews and audits of active or discontinued medical-professional liability, lawyer-professional liability, general liability, and other product lines.
