  • Selecting and Monitoring Target Date Funds: Recent 401(k) litigation centered on target date funds highlights the importance of establishing and following a prudent target date fund selection and monitoring process that meets ERISA’s prudent fiduciary standard.   • Selecting an Auditor for Your Employee Benefit Plan: If your employee benefit plan must have an annual audit, hiring an independent qualified public accountant (IQPA) is one of the plan administrator’s most important fiduciary responsibilities. This section will cover the critical components of a sound, prudent process for choosing and monitoring an IQPA as well as US Department of Labor enforcement efforts related to IQPA audits.
