Rosanna Berardi Featured in ABC News Live Segment About US Department of Homeland Security's New Social Media Screening Requirement for Some Tourists

Rosanna Berardi, managing partner of Berardi Immigration Law and immigration counsel at Barclay Damon, was featured in the ABC News Live segment “US to Require Tourist Social Media History,” where she discussed the US government’s new plan that would require some tourists to submit their social media history to visit the United States.

About what US Customs & Border Patrol may be looking for, Rosanna said, “I think they’re looking for individuals that may be involved in government propaganda or anti-US sentiment. The concern that I have is who’s going to decide what’s offensive, what’s inappropriate? Is it going to be an algorithm? Is it going to be a human?”

When asked whether Americans traveling abroad should be worried or expect some retaliatory measures from some of these countries, Rosanna said, “You might get some snarky comments here and there. . . . It leaves a sour taste in the mouths of many individuals, but this is part of the messaging from the administration. . . . This is one piece of their enforcement puzzle.”

Rosanna also discussed launch of the Trump Gold Card, which is an visa program that fast-tracks permanent US residency for wealthy foreigners.
