Yvonne Hennessey Quoted in Newsday Article on Delayed Las Vegas Sands Casino Project

Yvonne Hennessey, Environmental Practice Area chair at Barclay Damon and New York State Bar Association Environmental Law Section chair, was quoted in the Newsday article “Experts: Coliseum Lease Faces Lengthy Court Fight: Las Vegas Sands’ $4B Casino Proposal at Site Could be Impacted by Protracted Litigation Over Nassau’s Transfer.” The article explores how the proposed $4 billion casino resort project at the site of Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Nassau County, New York, could face a long legal battle regarding whether Nassau County officials skipped a full State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) environmental analysis and were pressured to fast-track a 99-year lease for the property on which the proposed casino will be located.

Yvonne, who not involved in the case, commented on the long legal process, due in part to courts being backed up; she noted that “a lengthy delay is often discouraging for people wanting to invest.”
