Biography

A licensed and practicing physician with over 15 years of legal experience, James primarily concentrates his practice on health-law services, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance and corporate transactional issues. He represents physicians and corporations in issues involving HIPAA privacy rules, Stark laws, anti-kickback laws, EMTALA, not-for-profit law, professional credentialing, professional discipline, and scope-of-practice regulations.

James also represent clients in corporate transactional and governance issues, including mergers and acquisitions, dissolutions, professional-services agreements, hospital-physician joint ventures, and medical-staff bylaws.

In addition to his role at Barclay Damon, James is the Rochester General Health System Department of Occupational Medicine medical director and teaches at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry.
