Overview

Biography

Ron has a wealth of experience in a broad range of commercial real estate and other business transactions and represents real estate developers and investors, including foreign individuals and institutions, in sophisticated transactions. He is a persistent negotiator, yet understands the value of a gentler approach. Ron draws on his long-standing relationships in the business community to achieve his clients’ goals.

In addition to real estate developers and investors, Ron represents regional retail businesses, automobile dealerships, and not-for-profit associations and has represented local, national, and international aggregate companies. He has represented local and national banks and credit companies in all types of secured and unsecured financings, such as acquisition, development and construction loans, permanent loans, asset-based financings, ground lease financings, and joint ventures. Ron is also well-versed in major debt restructurings, representing both borrowers and lenders.

Experience

Representative Experience

  • Represented an international lender in the foreclosure of a $100 million-plus mortgage on a five-star hotel located in Washington DC, and the asset was ultimately disposed.
  • Represented a local developer in the sale of a large Washington DC mixed-use parcel of land, which included the acquisition of transfer development rights (TDRs) to bundle with the sale.
  • Represented a developer in the complex acquisition of a large Washington DC city block mixed-use parcel of land and the ultimate disposition of the asset in two different transactions.
  • Represented the largest supermarket chain in Washington DC in its leasing and acquisition activities.
  • Represented a client in the sale of a large West Virginia stone quarry to a multinational United Kingdom–based buyer. Subsequently handled the buyer’s future US activities.
  • Represented a local auto dealership group in their acquisition activities, including the acquisition of the underlying real estate.
  • Acted as local counsel to a New York–based hotel ownership and management group in its acquisition of a four- to five-star hotel in Washington DC.
