Overview

Biography

Sara has over 10 years of experience working closely with domestic and international clients to assist them in all stages of trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement and filing documents and applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office and US Copyright Office. Her clients span a wide array of industries, including clothing, sports and entertainment, cannabis, medical products and services, jewelry, household and cleaning items, education, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and software. Sara also represents clients in appeals, oppositions, and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

In addition to her legal practice, Sara is an adjunct professor at St. John’s University School of Law, where she teaches a course on trademark drafting and prosecution.

Experience

Representative Experience

  • Successfully registered over 1,000 trademarks in a wide variety of goods and services.
  • Defended, challenged, and favorably settled many trademark oppositions and cancellations before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
  • Assisted clients with filing trademark applications outside the United States, including applications through the Madrid Protocol International Filing System.
  • Successfully enforced a client’s federal trademark registration through a cease and desist letter and encouraged the infringer to immediately adopt a less similar mark.
