Barclay Damon's Pro Bono Program Honored Again

Barclay Damon has been named an Empire State Counsel® Law Firm Award honoree by the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) for the sixth consecutive year.

The annual Empire State Counsel® awards from NYSBA acknowledge the exemplary pro bono work of individual attorneys and law firms across New York State at the bar association’s annual Justice for All award ceremony. Barclay Damon received the honor based on the total number of pro bono hours completed by attorneys at our firm who performed 50-plus hours of service in 2022. Sharon Brown attended the event on the firm’s behalf.

Barclay Damon’s Empire State Counsel award was received just before the firm announced that, in 2022, all of Barclay Damon’s full-time attorneys, working with firm paralegals, provided pro bono legal services to low-income individuals in need of legal assistance and organizations serving those seeking access to justice. The firm has achieved this goal every year since 2017.

“Social inequities, violence, inflation, the pandemic, and other aspects of our modern world present serious, often heart-wrenching challenges to countless members of our communities who aren’t in a position to afford the representation they need, and I’m proud that all of our attorneys step up to help meet the challenge,” Connie Cahill, managing partner, said. “We’re honored to give of our time and talent where needed, and we plan to continue achieving 100-percent participation for many years to come.”
