Barclay Damon Expands Boston Labor and Employment Capabilities, Adds Accomplished Appellate Advocate Cat Scott

Experienced attorney who represents employers bring workplace counseling, litigation, and labor-relations experience to the firm’s growing Boston office.

Barclay Damon announces that Cat Scott has joined the firm as a partner in its Labor & Employment and Commercial Litigation & Complex Trials Practice Areas in the firm’s Boston office.

Scott advises employers, in-house counsel, and human resources professionals on workplace compliance, employee relations, labor relations, workplace investigations, and employment disputes. She works closely with organizations to address workplace issues proactively through counseling, training, and risk-management strategies while also representing employers in litigation, arbitrations, and agency proceedings.

Her practice encompasses employment discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, wage-and-hour, and Family and Medical Leave Act matters as well as labor relations issues involving collective bargaining, union matters, National Labor Relations Board proceedings, and labor arbitrations.

"Employers today are managing a rapidly evolving legal landscape that not only requires exceptional legal knowledge but also a deep understanding of how employment decisions affect an organization's culture, operations, and long-term goals,” said Rosemary Enright, leader of Barclay Damon’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. “Her experience helping employers solve problems proactively, while also defending them when disputes arise, makes her an exceptional addition to our team and a valuable resource for our clients."

Scott brings significant appellate experience to the firm. She has represented the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association as amicus counsel in precedent-setting Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court cases involving restrictive covenants and independent contractor classification, among other employment-law issues. She also regularly writes and speaks on developments affecting employers and workplace law.

“Cat has built a reputation as a trusted adviser to employers throughout Massachusetts,” said Lizz Acee, managing director of the firm’s major market offices. “As we continue to expand our presence in Boston, her experience, judgment, and deep understanding of workplace law enhance our ability to provide clients with the responsive, high-level counsel they associate with our firm.”

The addition of Scott comes shortly after the firm hired Cristina Salamone as a partner in its New Haven office, further strengthening the firm’s labor and employment and commercial litigation capabilities in the Northeast.

“Throughout my career, I've enjoyed partnering with employers to help them navigate difficult workplace issues and develop strategies that support their long-term success,” said Scott. “Barclay Damon's collaborative culture and client-first mindset make it an excellent fit for that work, and I'm excited to join the firm and begin working with clients and colleagues across its platform.”
