Matthew utilizes his environmental studies background and experience working with government regulatory agencies to represent clients in a wide range of matters, with a particular focus on counseling energy project developers on compliance with state and federal environmental and regulatory laws. Through experience gained as an attorney adviser with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Office of General Counsel, he has experience with the licensing of natural gas and hydroelectric projects under the Natural Gas Act and Federal Power Act as well as matters involving the National Environmental Policy Act and other environmental compliance statutes, including the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Historic Preservation Act.
In addition to his FERC experience, Matthew previously worked with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance and interned with the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. These roles have given him practical insight into federal review and regulatory processes, which he draws on to support clients developing and permitting energy and other infrastructure projects.
